Voldemort Hath No Fury Like Angry Harry Potter Fans

The thing that I love most about this article is how Steve Sansweet pops up near the end to go "STFU n00bs, try being Star Wars."

1. How many songs are on your ipod? Sir Percival is sadly, sadly missing his charger and thus not really working at the moment! I have been ONE YEAR AND A HALF without remembering to get a new charger, which is LAME of me. But Sir Percival is 40 GB (oldschool!) and was full, so... idk, 7000-8000 songs?

2. What do you do before bedtime? heh heh heh.

Uh, okay, usually I study, watch an episode of whatever tv show I'm into atm, wash my face/brush my teeth, and then snuggle down into bed with my feet hanging off the end.

3. What magazines do you have subscriptions to? The New Yorker, Interview, Architectural Digest.

4. What is your favorite scent? Vanilla! Or the smell just before it rains, you know what I mean? idk what it IS exactly, but I love it.

5. If you had a million dollars that you could spend only on yourself, what would you do with it? Finish paying for college, and split the rest between savings and investment. Probably also spend like $5000 on random entertainment needs, such as all the seasons of Star Trek EVER.

6. What is your theme song? idk, probably something painfully indie and hip. Or else by David Bowie or Michael Jackson. OR ELSE THE JET SONG FROM WEST SIDE STORY.

7. Do you trust easily? No. Not at all. People THINK I do, but that's just because I have a very open sense of... openness. YEAH WHATEVER, what I'm trying to say is that I talk a lot about myself and about things that other people would regard as "personal," which makes me seem very trusting, but the deal is that I don't actually regard those things as personal/private, otherwise I wouldn't share them. I also use openness as a policy because if you put the truth out there, it's more difficult for people to hurt you with it. So it's partially because I DON'T trust people that I'm so open with them... which sounds backwards but has worked pretty well.

8. Do you generally think before you act or act before you think? Uh. Both? I mean, usually I overthink before I act, but sometimes I just leap into things without thinking much and then muddle through along the way. Neither way seems to work better than the other.

9. Is there anything that makes you unhappy these days? McCain's face, having to live at home and drive to school for another week until the internet in my apartment gets fixed (MY GOD, HOW WOULD I KNOW MY HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS WITHOUT INTERNET?), sad lack of chocolate ice cream in the freezer.

10. Do you have a good body image? Yes, mostly. Like, right now I'm out of shape and I know it, but it doesn't really show as long as I've got clothes on, and probably even if I don't. I mean, I go through phases where I don't think I'm all that attractive (especially compared to all the tall, tan, blonde, and ridiculously slender and toned girls at school) but then some guy with keyboard-smash-worthy levels of hot will ask me out and I'll figure I MUST look pretty good in order for him to bother.

11. Is being tagged fun? No one on my flist tags people, so I wouldn't know.

12. What websites do you visit daily? International Herald Tribune, Talking Points Memo, Andrew Sullivan, Wonkette, Slate, Schneier on Security, all my various emails, LJ, Amazon, Wikipedia.

13. What have you been addicted to lately? HEROIN uh, tv-on-dvd. It's such a timesucker but I can't kick the habit. I mean. TV. ON DVD. WHOEVER FIRST SAID "HEY, WE COULD PACK AN ENTIRE SEASON INTO A LITTLE BOX AND SELL IT FOR THIRTY BUCKS" WAS A GENIUS.

14.What kind of person do you think is the person who tagged you? Not tagged, but I snagged this from [livejournal.com profile] furiosity and [livejournal.com profile] opaleyes, who are both awesome. [livejournal.com profile] opaleyes reminds me SO MUCH of Naomi (NAOMI: WHAT LJ NAME AM I SUPPOSED TO BE LINKING TO FOR YOU? YOU SHOULD USE YOUR FANNISH JOURNAL AGAIN, WITH LJ-LOGIN IT'S EASY TO HAVE MULTIPLES haha i didn't mean any innuendos there) so I've been inclined to like her since I met her. [livejournal.com profile] furiosity intimidated me when I first started reading her lj but it turns out she's not actually very scary (UNLESS SHE TRIES TO BE), just very fun!

15. What's the last song that got stuck in your head? Journey - "Wheel in the Sky." I had never heard this song until about a year ago when TC and Bob made me listen to it (NAOMI: YOU SAT NEXT TO "BOB" AT MY BIRTHDAY... HE USED TO WRITE NOVEL-LENGTH HARRY/HERMIONE FANFIC WHICH HE REFUSES TO LET ME READ, AND HE GETS ALL OF HIS FIC FROM FANFICTION.NET). Now it is basically the ONLY song that ever gets stuck in my head... seriously, at least once a week! I hated it at first but now I've given in and just adore it.

16.What's your favorite item of clothing? I am going to have to go with the lime green cords that made an appearance at Portus. COME ON, GUYS, THEY'RE LIME GREEN CORDUROY PANTS, what's not to love? I also have pajamas that look like a pinstriped suit (EXCEPT FLANNEL) and those are pretty cool as well.

17. Do you think Rice Krispies are yummy? Um, if they're in Rice Krispie treats...

18. What would you do if you saw $100 lying on the ground? Uh, I doubt I'd actually notice it. That would be very out of character. I'd probably just shrug and leave it, because, well, that's what I do.

19. What items could you not go without during the day? Uh... food? Shelter? Clothing? Other than that, I COULD go without most everything. It'd be kind of boring, but that's why they invented daydreams.

20. What should you be doing right now? Homework, probably.

OMG. HEY, STUPID POTTER FANS. Stop making the rest of us look bad! Jean Fink, you are 51, and also a moron. GET A LIFE.

"How am I supposed to get my Potter fix now!" Hitler violently shouts, according to the new subtitles, when told of the delay by one of his officials. He adds: "We are going to make Warner Brothers suffer."

Please tell me that is a hilarious joke, mocking the people who are sobbing themselves to sleep over this. (Edit- holy shit. I just looked it up, and it IS making fun of those people. It is fucking hilarious. I am crying with laughter over here. Edit #2- Ok, maybe it's not. But if you view it as that, it's so awesome.)

In response to Mr. Horn's apology she sent 30 angry letters to Warner Bros. in bright red envelopes -- an allusion to "howlers,"

OMG. Oh my... AUUGH. At least she put them in red envelopes so they knew which ones to just throw away rather than bothering to open.

Standing outside holding a sign?! "You will forever be known as 'The man who changed Harry Potter's release date.' O Shit, really? Damn. I think I just pooped in my pants.

Of course it's a pain in the butt for people who made plans, and that sucks, especially since some people bought plane tickets to be in England, but I just absolutely cannot comprehend why these people are going insane over it. They just pushed the date! Of course it's about money! Who CARES?! They are a major company! It's what major companies do! Make money!

Jesus Christ, people. YIKES.

Steve Sansweet. XD Nice. But I still hate the prequels. Amazingly enough though, I didn't send any death threats about them. Huh. Weird.

OR ELSE THE JET SONG FROM WEST SIDE STORY.
LOL. XD

I MUST look pretty good in order for him to bother.
You are smokin'. Trufax.

Who is Naomi? She sounds awesome.

You officially have cooler clothing than me. :D

ahahahha, I wasn't going to say it, but I'm glad you did!

And that Hitler thing is used for all sorts of hilarious rants. IT IS SO FUNNY. There are ones for like, basically everything.

I kind of hate the prequels too. I enjoyed TPM, but I was 12 when it came out and haven't rewatched it since I was like 16 so idk if it would hold up now (I SHOULD PROBABLY TEST THIS OUT). People kept telling me they liked RotS best so I re-watched it at the beginning of the summer, thinking maybe it would be better than I remembered... but no. It was WORSE. SO PAINFUL OMG. But I'm no longer letting it dilute my awesome love for the original trilogy and the expanded universe!

Naomi is one of my friends from HS who also is one of only a handful of RL friends I know is in fandom, and the only one that knows about this journal. And she is awesome!

She's crazy! Sorry, but that's crazy!

I still find some weird enjoyment in the Phantom Menace. I'm not sure why, but it's the only prequel I own and can stand to watch (though, I definitely don't watch it often). I saw AotC once and was bored out of my mind, saw RotS and laughed the whole way through at how horrendously awful it was. Then I bought the burnt-Anakin action figure (yes, there is one. You convert him from burnt potato to Darth Vader), and delighted in the fact that you could tear his limbs off and replace them. Original Trilogy for the win! :D I read a lot of the books and stuff when I was in high school, but it's been a while. Callista is still firmly on my baby names list though, and that came from the Extended Universe. :)

Yay for Naomi!

Oh, I'm not arguing that it was crazy, I just hadn't said it because some people could argue that MY level of fannishness is crazy, lol, and didn't want to go around throwing rocks in a glass house or what-have-you.

I think the "weird enjoyment" you're getting from TPM is Ewan McGregor without that ugly facial hair. I KNOW THAT'S MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE MOVIE. And omgggg, that tearable-limbs action figure sounds awesome!

AND YES, CALLISTA. I've always thought a cool name for a superhero or other kickass female heroine would be Callista Callahan, because, uh, it's alliterative? idk I just like alliterative names.
9th-Sep-2008 02:24 am (UTC)
Oh, no! I caught what you meant. It was a sorry to her. ^_^

THAT MIGHT WELL BE IT. Rrrrowr. Well, and I love Darth Maul. And I liked Naboo. The other movies lacked pretty Naboo.

Hee! Callahan makes me think of the movie Tommy Boy. XD Callista (Callie for a nickname) has been my #1 name for a little girl since I was probably in about 9th or 10th grade. I've named one of my Pullips Callie in the meantime, as it will still be a few years and I really want to use it. :P She's not Callista though. Just Callie. Doggone, if I don't have a girl to name Callista, I'm going to be very upset.

But I totally get the alliterative name thing too! I want the middle name for Callista to be Luna (not entirely HP based, I swear, moreso a tribute to a mentor I had growing up), and that would be Callie Luna. I like all of the Ls. It just rolls off the tongue.
9th-Sep-2008 02:58 am (UTC)
Ohhh, Naboo was so pretty. In my art history textbook there was a picture of somewhere with buildings like the ones on Naboo, and I remember looking at it and going "Naboo?" before realizing, like, uh, no, the textbook wasn't just sticking in random Star Wars pictures for lols. (Though one time I had a biology textbook with many pictures of Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom splashed all over the sections on genetics. LOL.)

I actually like the nickname "Cal" for Callista. It's my stupid love for androgynous names, lol.

And ooh, yes, Callie Luna is fun to say! I too love all the Ls. L, V, and S are probably my favorite letters, lol.

Hee! Yes, I loved the architecture and "countryside" they used salt to make the waterfalls in the big overhead shots. I think that is so much cooler! CG waterfalls? Or waterfalls made by pouring salt over miniatures! Handmade things look so much more real and awesome. The spectators at the podrace were created with painted Q-tips! :D

CanI just tell you a story about how awesome Steve Sansweet is?

I'm going to regardless of permission.

So I went to Star Wars Celebration III. Went to a bagel place, grabbed a breakfast and sat down at the only empty table. Along comes this dude in this AWESOME star wars varsity jacket. I have th eonly empty seat in the entire place so he asks to sit with me. I said sure. Complemented him on his jacket. We got to talking, he gave me his card and told me to call him or stop by and see his presentation. I looked and OMG IT WAS STEVE SANSWEET.

So then, I go to his presentation cause, hello, steve sansweet. Afterwards, he sees me and goes I didn't forget you! and gives me this really really reallyreally awesome baseball jersey sort of shirt that says "sith" on the back. Yeah. Omg. I've never worn it but I have had it since before you could buy it.

OMG!

*jealous*

AWESOME STORY!

I admit I don't know much about Steve Sansweet other than "sometimes he gets really excited about totally boring presentations at cons" but this story makes me like him! STEVE SANSWEET: HE EATS BAGELS! HE ONCE GAVE WOOK A SHIRT!

(Also I made a new SW icon. IT IS LUKE SHOOTING AT THINGS. It is so colorful!)
