I miss being at Portus. It was fun. Now I feel like I don't have anything to do. Because, well, I don't. I'm still working on my con post but it's taking a while because it's all coming out in a confused mess of incoherence.

Also, thinking it over, was I the youngest person in our group of people? I think I was. I didn't feel like the youngest, but that's probably because everyone else was so immature just because I'm used to being the oldest.

Also also, people voted for my icon this week at lantis_lims? That was a pleasant surprise, since it was another "thrown together in ten minutes" entry. I still feel like the balance is off, but I've tried all sorts of things and it hasn't improved. It's that damn picture of Ronon leaning forward. I'll have to chop off his head and paste it on differently before it'll work, and right now I just don't have the patience for that.

You know, I was really nervous about going to this since I've never been to an HP con before but so far it has been a blast. I met auntee_mame, furiosity, pixies, pikacharma, hufflepuffskb, longleggedgit, nqdonne, and pennswoods, among tons of other awesome people whose lj names I've forgotten. It took me SO LONG to find the H/D meetup and I was kind of lurking behind a pillar peeking out and squinting at furiosity because I once saw a picture of her on LJ and was trying to figure out if that was her or just a furiosity-looking randomperson, but fortunately she's way more on top of things than I am and was all "WE'RE THE HD MEETUP!" so I didn't have to figure out a way to furtively sneak closer and ascertain that I was not once again approaching a bunch of Harry/Hermione shippers and going, "heeeeey, H/D?" So then one of the few seats open was by auntee_mame who was the only other person I knew there at the time, so that was great.

I'm quite shy and since this is the first time I ever met any of these people I felt super-awkward following them around. Fortunately everyone was absolutely lovely and they didn't even shut me up when I got tipsy and started trying to dominate the discussion with Harry Potter and the Spacebrooms of Doom and my ramblings on Ron/Draco. I've never been around so many fannish people at once and it was a little overwhelming but very awesome.

Uh, also, at dinner I mentioned some PRETTY AWESOME fanvids and said I'd link them here, so:

p.s. - I left the lamest-ever friending comments because I was still not entirely sober and am also very sleepy and could not think of anything to say other than OMG HI PORTUS. It happens.

So... Portus 2008.

Since it's taking place about ten minutes from where I live... I'm thinking that it would be stupid of me not to go. I suppose it's too early, at this point, to go "SO ANYONE ELSE GOING PLZ TELL SO WE CAN MEET UP," but yeah. More later. Right now I'm just kind of excited that I won't have to fly halfway around the planet to go to an HP con.
