21st-Nov-2008 01:27 pm - wtf obama = mario, and dean/angel forever
1. what the fuck is this shit:

2. Supernatural last night = AWESOME. Maybe later today or tomorrow I will write more because I loved this episode A LOT and wish to ramble on about it. Though I guess mainly what I have to say is that Anna is awesome, and before she was on the show I kept thinking they needed a character like her and I guess ASK AND YE SHALL RECEIVE. And while I still don't really like the actress who is playing Ruby, I do like Ruby a lot, and I like that Dean is warming to her. But I can't continue talking now because I have work to do.

I have herein embedded some of my favorite videos from the past week that you may have somehow missed. Not on the political filter because I think you can enjoy them no matter your political persuasion, as they mostly rely on the appeal of precocious children and Russian dudes with severely dodgy hairstyles.

Since I am white and 99% of the children in this video are black, I cannot say anything more about it without someone interpreting my remarks as racism. But please note the token white guy with no rhythm. Also, I have had this song stuck in my head ALL DAY and have been singing it and dancing around my apartment. SO CATCHY. WHY SO CATCHY!?

In which Biden is interviewed by a small child, for Truth and Freedom! )

In which (alleged) Russians sing about Sarah Palin. A+++ AWESOME VIDEO )

BE SURE TO WATCH THE SONG FOR SARAH PALIN ONE. IT IS HILARIOUS, AND MY FAVORITE CAMPAIGN-RELATED SONG NOT SUNG BY A CHORUS OF DANCING CHILDREN.

27th-Sep-2008 05:03 am - yay debates!
I was going to liveblog the presidential debate while doing some sort of presidential-debate-related drinking game (possibly with video of my drunken commentary!) but then my stupid friends abducted me for dinner and I watched the debate with them and then played Monopoly and got drunk and argued for literally HOURS about whether rock-paper-scissors is a game of skill or chance.

FUCKING HELL.

Anyway, I'm a little eensy bit drunk right now... so I'll give you my delayed and truncated debate commentary (from memory, yay):

WHY IS MCCAIN'S LEFT EYE DROOPING? DID HE HAVE A STROKE?

PRIME MINISTER OF SPAIN, FUCK YEAH.

OBAMA: I'D HIT IT.

OBAMA: FLAG PIN
MCCAIN: NO FLAG PIN
I THINK WE KNOW WHO THE TRUE PATRIOT IS NOW, BITCHES.

WHAT HAPPENED TO LEHRER? FACELIFT? COMMENTS, PEOPLE, COMMENTS.

ALSO OH GOD THE FOUNDATION ON THE CANDIDATE'S FACES. WTF, TOO MUCH. WAY TOO MUCH.

LOL FUNDAMENTALS. DOES MCCAIN EVEN KNOW ANY OTHER WORDS? EVEN LEHRER COMMENTED ON IT.

Anyway, my drinking game was going to be a shot for every time the word "fundamental" was used during the economic section, and "Iran" during the foreign policy bit. Would have been fun. But my friends thought doing shots was dumb because "IT'S THE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE." But what better time? I mean, WHAT BETTER TIME!?

Also, I love every single political blogger who live-blogged while watching the debate AND fact-checking. God, having suspected lies confirmed/denied only moments after watching the candidates say them is AMAZING. fyi, my honestly unbiased opinion is that the candidates were just about tied on that front. If we let my biases in, I think McCain's lies/omissions were worse than Obama's... but I think they had about equal occasions of truth-twisting. Which is natural since they're just people, after all, so I'm not terribly bothered. Except for the part where McCain kept saying he was going to cut expenditures when actually his policies raise them. BUT WHATEVER. McCain flip-flops so much even his advisors can't keep up with his platform, so all of his prepwork was probably off the mark.

anyway leaving this out of the filter because, idk, tipsy ramblings about issues of national interest? for some reason it seems justified.

also fuck my head hurts now. also hot boys yay, completely irrelevant to everything else.

[Poll #1186074]

Irrelevantly, I moved home from school the other day and it's so nice to not be in a dorm room. So, so nice.

7th-Mar-2008 09:01 am - the written word: proving society has been the same since the beginning of time.
Ha, I'm reading Aristotle's Politics and near the end there's this discussion on how parents should monitor what children watch to ensure they aren't exposed to anything they shouldn't be. I admit I laughed. I can't imagine what he would say if confronted by the television or internets.

State of satisfaction with national results: Rather satisfied. Democrats have made gains!

State of satisfaction with local results: Not very. Democrats have made undeserved gains. In many instances, the Republican candidates were better. Straight-party tickets are for bitches.

So, the Democratic party is in control of the House. There have been only a handful of changes in power in the House in the past century, so this is a fairly big deal. I guess. 13 seats are still in play, but it's looking to me that, unless there's a surprise upset waiting in the absentee ballots, they'll be pretty evenly split between Democrats and Republicans.

The Senate. We're waiting on Virginia. We're going to BE waiting on Virginia. I'm hoping that what with the FBI investigating voter-suppression tactics and whatnot, the GOP will not be much with the foul play with the recount. I don't really have much confidence in this, however.

AND, and and and -- Rumsfeld! Resigning! Or so I hear.
