it's good to be back

So, a few nights ago I had a Draco/Goyle dream. It was quite disturbing. This is all [livejournal.com profile] scoradh's fault, I assure you.

And now on to the urgent SGA questions:

1. If some of the senior crew were going on leave to Earth, do you think they'd use the Stargate or go on the Daedalus? The Stargate would be faster but would use the ZPM. The Daedalus would take for freaking ever, meaning they'd be gone probably three or four months at the least.

2. Say, why do radio transmissions go both ways through the gate? Like, we know matter travels in discrete units from the origin to the destination (and never from the destination to the origin) but why are radio waves different? I mean, we know that other waves (such as sound and, more importantly, light [which is also electromagnetic radiation, but with a higher frequency than that of radio waves]) don't travel through the gate in either direction so WHY THE HELL do radio waves get through? And then go both ways? I mean, I recognize that it's for PLOT PURPOSES, but a more scientific explanation would be nice. You don't have to be right, or anything, but any theories would be appreciated.

Oh, god, I love that story so much. ::wistful sigh:: um.

1. It'd have to be something really important for them to use the Gate, imo, otherwise it'd be the Daedalus or they'd just find a way around needing to go back.

2. Dude, magic! No, seriously, I don't know. I was crap at science in school and never even noticed the weirdness of that before just now. I'm sure there's got to be some duct-tape-and-rubber-bands sciencey way to explain it though. There always is.

1. Well, John and Rodney need to go on a vacation so they can realize they are IN LOVE. That's important, right? (I could, of course, just stick them on a picturesque Pegasus world, which is probably the way to go. Plus, there could be wacky wildlife. "zomg it has three heads! run!" or whatever)

2. I thought of this on the airplane when I was going on vacation, then spent the rest of the vacation puzzling over it while trying to do internet searches on my cellphone (two inch tall screen!) to find out if anyone else had an explanation. It's really annoying me now.

Also, I didn't know you liked SGA! Also also, FORD OMG! He's my homeboy.

1. lkl;k It is very important for John and Rodney to realize they're mtb, yes. On the one hand, I think that putting them in an unfamiliar place with strange people and/or things with big teeth would aid in the love!realizations. They'd have to rely on each other even more, you know? Buttsecks fo sho. But on the other hand, if that's not pinging for you, I think you should go wherever the story takes you and fuck the rest. Yes.

2. Ouch, yeah, that would be annoying. Someone's had to have questioned it though. hmm. Unless you're the only one and then you should get a cookie or something.

ahaha, yeah, I dig it. I guess I haven't been talking about it because of the summer hiatus and all. My love has gone dormant, I need to watch the new episode. :( I LOVE FORD. HE IS MY HOMEBOY AS WELL. SOMETIMES I CALL HIM SNAKE EYE AND WE DRINK MILKSHAKES AND TALK CRAZY.

They need to bring our boy Crazy-Eye F back into the action. He needs to have more tense scenes with Ronon. And Michael. Ford needs scenes with Michael.

And YES you need to watch the new episode. It is AWESOME TIMES TEN. Like, Allies sucked, but No Man's Land is SO FRIGGIN COOL. My brother and I watched it and we were all "OMG O_O" throughout. Also, there is nice Rodney/Ronon banter. And Lorne looking hot. And Zelenka being all ... zlenky. I don't know. I'm making up words now.
