28th-Jul-2008 01:03 pm
um so I went to the opera last night and there was a man in the orchestra or something whose last name, according to the program book, was this:

Greydanus.

GREYDANUS, guys. AHHAHAHHAHHA.

[Poll #1231068]

p.s. I am a mature and thoughtful individual.

p.p.s. Yes, this really DID merit interrupting my vacation to tell you about.

The two things that are greatly impressing me about this post (in completely different ways):
1) You went to the opera (hooray!)
2) You managed to have an LJ laughter breakdown over a guy's name :D

1. Liking opera is a family tradition. We're not really given much choice in the matter -- not that I'm complaining. This one was Falstaff and everyone else loved it but it just confirmed for me that I'm not really fond of Verdi.

2. BUT SO MUCH PORN COULD BE MADE ABOUT THIS THAT IT IS NOT EVEN FUNNY. IT WENT STRAIGHT THROUGH "FUNNY" AND INTO "BLEAK."

3. (I know you didn't have a three, but I'm adding one.) This is like Obama's man Axelrod. That name was not made for political consulting!

OMG that name is straight outta Moe's Tavern, or at least it should be! I can just see Bart calling up and being all like "Hi, I'm looking for my mom. Her name is Anita, last name Grey, that's g-r-e-y, danus. Can you see if she's there?" And then Moe is all like "HEY EVERYBODY, ANITA GREYDANUS, WHERE SHOULD I LOOK?"

...Come to think of it, I wonder if the local Wal-Mart would page someone over the loudspeaker if I asked very nicely.

Anita Greydanus is an even better drag queen name than Anita Mann. Plus, not so common! Bonus! If I ever turn into a man and become a drag queen to recapture my femininity, I will have the PERFECT NAME.

Unfortunately, I doubt this will happen.
