Icon thieves with bad taste. They hotlinked and claimed as their own some of the ugliest icons I've posted on lj. Classy.
1. Reply to THIS post, and I will select four or five of your userpics that I like.
2. Make a entry and talk about the icons I have chosen.
3. Other people will then comment on your entry and you will do the same as I have done for you.
4. Thus creating a NEVER ENDING CYCLE of icon merriment.icons chosen by
babel.

This is one of my earliest BSG icons, tagged in my userpics as "conspiracy." I made it because the caps were perfect to highlight the similarities between Starbuck and Tigh. They both have sharp tempers and can be very competent when they're not floating around in a sea of booze. Though I made it after the second season, the third and fourth continued this theme. It's oversharpened and has weird shit going on in the background, but I still like it because it's one of the first of mine where I was really trying to
express something.

This is a Teyla icon which was either an entry or an alternate at
lantis_lims quite a while ago. It's tagged in my userpics as "cold and distant stars," which was the working title for the Deep Space Nine episodes
Past Tense and then later
Far Beyond the Stars, and which I've always thought is a gorgeous phrase. The icon took whatever the initial cap was and tried to really play up the image of Teyla as "other," and specifically as kind of an ethereal, alien other who comes from, well, the cold and distant stars. It was sort of supposed to represent a moment in time of Teyla in the vast universe, catching a breath.

KIRA. I love Deep Space Nine a lot and out of all the characters I love Kira best (and then Quark and Garak, lol). This cap was from
Indiscretion, which is an episode where Kira has to work with her worst enemy, a man who helped to enslave and slaughter her people, to try to find a lost ship that contained people they both cared about. It's an example of one of my favorite things about Kira and her character arc, which is that even though Dukat is a dirty, nasty, filthy piece of slime, she puts aside her personal feelings about him (for the most part) and works with him again and again for the greater good. And I just thought the cap was pretty (four of my 11 DS9 icons are from that ep, lol). I made it a little grungy to give it that authentic Bajoran terrorist look.

Buffy! This is tagged "mirror" for the super-ultra-creative reason that it is a cap of Buffy looking in a mirror. It's from "Lessons," the first episode of the seventh season. The bathroom scene had a lot of pretty colors and I very shallowly just wanted some icons with pretty colors. There was actually
a really creepy ghost girl in the cap, and I edited her out big-time. Generally I use it when I want a kind of generic or serious icon. Or a Buffy icon.

DIRTY HARRY. Tagged in my userpics as "Callahan," because, hey, it's Harry Callahan, and I'm super-creative like that. The description line says "{work} if you can live with it." Because that's very Callahan-like to me. He's got a job to do but sometimes it conflicts with his morals and he's got to decide which he's going to prioritize. The movie is
really pretty and after my brother and I watched it about a month ago (he'd never seen it before!) I rewatched it and capped the fuck out of it so I could make icons. I wanted one from
the football field scene that I would tag with "torture: the american way" and use ironically in political discussions, but I'd forgotten he has
that stupid bandage on his neck for that entire scene. I also want to make some of
Andy Robinson looking totally batshit. But back to this icon. It was supposed to express kind of a feeling of isolation and thought, but I end up using it for all sorts of other things because it's so pretty. One of my current favorites.
I've been feeling totally drained of energy for the past few weeks. Can't even do anything in photoshop without falling asleep. Blah.
And I don't have my appointment until later this week. But aside from the tiredness and stupidly short attention span, I've been feeling much better. So that's something, at least.
