a day at the polls

So I have a question. And this has been bothering me for the past week, since people started actually commenting on [livejournal.com profile] iconzero and like, taking icons and stuff. Which is totally what they're supposed to do. But since comments on icon posts tend to run to the "liked #7, snagging it" variety, I'm COMPLETELY CONFUSED over whether or not I'm supposed to reply. This is where you, dear lj friends (and random people wandering by), come in! In other words: Poll time.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I was thinking, but uh, if you look at the community you will see that my reply record is erratic at best. Like, I replied to EVERY comment on the Star Wars post, only the questions on the X-men post, and on the SGA posts I reply depending on what they say and how I feel at that particular moment. And I need a blanket policy.

You could make your blanket policy "hey, guys I probably won't respond due to time constraints or whatever" and then if you don't, no one will mind, and if you do, they'll feel super special.

I actually thought about doing something like that, or putting a note that I will reply to questions and criticisms/whatever, but if you're just letting me know what you took, I probably won't but know that I saw your comment and am glad you liked the icon. I wasn't even going to ASK people to comment but then I realized if I didn't I'd have no way of tracking what people liked so I could make more. Ironically, it turns out that the icons people seem to like most are the ones that I feel I totally missed the mark on and almost didn't even post because I didn't think anyone would take them. So I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do with that information.
