Anyone have any idea how exploding snap is actually played? I know Ron built a house out of the exploding snap cards once, but, uh, other than that I'm lost. Even off-the-wall theories would be nice.

I'm asking this because I just discovered part of a fic I had evidently started after HBP but subsequently forgot about. There is a scene wherein Neville sets off the exploding snap cards. This made me wonder wtf exploding snap is, anyway, because I really have no effing clue.

I think the cards probably explode when you make a wrong move or take too long or something like that. But who knows? Maybe they are just cards that you're supposed to get under the other players' robes so that they are burnt when the things explode!

must admit I've never thought that much about it. :P

I just assumed that you could throw a card down (wuff-ly) for a "Snap" and it would explode. I guess it could accidentally ignite if you had a deck of these things, and when you were shuffling, two-of-a-kind came together...?
