puns.

I like bad puns. I mean to stop using them because they always slip out at inappropriate times, but I can't make it stop. I had originally had a whole entry written on another subject but I deleted it because there were too many bad puns.

It was an entry about punctuation*, no less.

*cries*

They won't go away!

*Which really just makes me think about the differences between visual and verbal puns, because obviously "punctuation" works as a pun if you read it but would fall completely flat if said out loud unless you mangled the pronunciation. Oh dear. I wonder if there's a book (or article, or anything) on this topic. I bet there is, but I have no clue as to how to find one. Other than intensive searching, which I am too lazy (and busy) to do. Still, this fascinates me.

*is fascinated*

don't stop a pun! it's like repressing a burp - it canna do you any good. :P

I ♥ puns. I don't know why they are so vilified. my partner puns all the time and, unless it's right in the middle of a D&M (which he, admittedly, has a tendency to do - serious talk = freak out = goes pun-crazy), it's good fun.

Well, I don't mean to stop using them ENTIRELY, just to stop using them when they're clearly inappropriate, like at Somber Gatherings of Great Importance (which are, of course, almost always where the greatest punning opportunities are to be found, making it the most difficult thing to quit).

Puns are fun but sometimes it's embarrassing if you just keep making bad puns and can't stop yourself!
