Oh god, the SGA actors are all so adorable. I love listening to the commentaries and watching the interviews and so on. Normally I HATE anything like that but the SGA actors are all such nerds that I just find it incredibly endearing. And yeah, theres the bit about Ronon being, as you said, "meteorically hot."
Recs. Okay. I can do that. In a very unorganized fashion. My desktop computer with all my bookmarks is currently not working, so this is just the stuff I can think of off the top of my head, since I only have like two things that aren't even very good bookmarked on my laptop for SGA. And, uh, keep in mind that the fic I like most is just this side of ridiculous (or, actually, maybe it crossed the line and went way over to the other side, I don't know, SGA makes me all YES, YES, BRING OUT YOUR CRAZY). There are some serious fics recced, of course, but I think most of them are in the general author recs.
First, to hit you with the hammer of obviousness, resonant8, astolat, julad, and helenish all write wonderful things. Helen's normal journal entries are all kinds of hilarious as well, especially this one (http://helenish.livejournal.com/141006.html) on the acting choices of JFlan.
jssangel has written some fics I've enjoyed (the list is here (http://jssangel.livejournal.com/28208.html)), most notably the Ronon "ring-eye" series, which I find outlandishly funny.
I like what siriaevewrites (http://siriaeve.unrealwords.com/) as well.
A Team is Borne (http://svendra.com/fanfiction/lorne.html) by Svendra -- A funny story involving Lorne, who deserves many stories because he is hot, and also a Sensitive Guy (srsly, in season three we learn that he likes to PAINT LANDSCAPES OF ATLANTIS because his mother was an art teacher, or some crazy shiznit like that).

In the Hands of Yes (http://hth.gatefiction.com/handsofyes.htm) and Thirteen O'Clock (http://hth.gatefiction.com/13oclock.htm) by hth_the_first -- Rodney/Ronon (her other fic is good as well but these were the first ones I thought of, so they get directly linked to).

I'm also going to point you to shadowserenity's McShep recs tag (http://shadowserenity.livejournal.com/tag/%5Bfic+recs%5D:+mckay/sheppard). When I'm in school and don't have time to sift through communities for decent things to read, that's where I pull from.
And when in doubt, I find that a good strategy for finding fic is to plug in the fandom and pairing of choice in delicious. That's actually how I refound several of these when I didn't remember who they were by, and just knew keywords like "sga lorne bambi" or "sga john fairy" (don't let these keywords scare you away!). Also, many good things exist at sga_flashfic, harlequin_sga, and reel_sga. Also many bad things, but that is the nature of ... well, the nature of things, in general.
Also, I've been totally spamming your journal with comments. You can watch my incremental progress through your entries unfold before your eyes!
OH HONEY. *is overwhelmed* You went and wrote out all these recs for me! (Methinks not for the first time, when you were trying to convince me initially you did the same.) OH WOW. I've been reading rageprufrock's stuff the last two days, one of them really resonated with me to the point that I've been muttering 'you should buy a couch you know' all day. But anyway. This is like a treasure trove or something! I'm all GLEE.
Word on the commentaries too. The one where Joe says 'in this episode I turn into a bug.' They are just ... cute, yes! I feel a real affection for them because they're not too up themselves. I have to sporfle when they go on about exploring their characters and Deep Acting and what have you, but I think that's an occupational hazard.
Also, I really like watching John kiss people. Not as much as watching Beckett and McKay kiss, obvs, but although I don't totally agree with what you said - that he's a goof with girls - he does have this 'OH WOW I CAN KISS YOU?' naivete to him that is totally endearing.
Too many caps.
I have an addictive personality. SGA is my new drug.
I have a post of vid recs that I'm compiling and it's taking SO long because I feel a responsibility to have great variety and seek out new vidders so that I'm not just reccing things by the same three people, lol. There's a shortlist of vids I think EVERYONE should watch because they're so friggin' awesome, and you'll definitely have to watch those. Hopefully I'll have it posted sometime this week, but I'm moving into school on Tuesday so it might take longer. Although I might just cut it off where I am now and say there will be a "part two" in a while.
And I'm afraid I've just inundated you with comments. I've had so little fandom time recently that it was the only way. Now to catch up on everyone else's journals...
