silly mother.

My mother is such a bad enabler of my fannish habits. I was talking about my plans to see Star Trek at the midnight showing, and how I was going to wear my Star Trek communicator badge pin (Voyager style), and she goes, "What's the rest of your costume?" When I replied that I was not WEARING a costume, she responded with horror and immediately decided I would HAVE to find/make a red miniskirt outfit like Uhura's. SO. I will probably be doing that. lol.

I'm so excited for the movie, even though I've not seen any Star Trek at all!

Star Trek is pretty awesome. I have to admit I have problems with the sexism in the original series and TNG, but I know they were TRYING not to be sexist... they just failed hard at it. But it's fun and there are spaceships and aliens, and TOS, TNG, and DS9 are really great at social commentary. BSG reminded me A LOT of DS9, it had a lot of the same themes and so on.

She is ridiculous! The only reason I went to Portus is because she bought the tickets as a surprise for me and woke me up in the morning going, "YOU ARE GOING TO A HARRY POTTER CONVENTION IT WILL BE SO FUN OH MY GODDDD." Now she is dressing me up for Star Trek! This is all extra funny because she does not seem to be remotely fannish at all, though she DID watch all of Alias, Veronica Mars, and 30 Rock.

Hahaha, that's incredible! Sometimes I'm surprised by how excited my mom gets over nerdy things I do. Sometimes she is just bewildered. :)
