unspoilery:

1. WHAT

2. WHAT

3. WHAT

4. WHAT

5. Well, that was an episode.

Battlestar Galactica 4x13 - Sometimes A Great Notion

Spoilery numbered list:

1. What the first: THE ORIGINAL 'BUCK IS DEAD AND LEOBEN IS AFRAID OF HER NOW?

2. What the second: DEE SHOT HERSELF IN THE HEAD?

3. What the third: NEW CYLONS ARE OLD (REALLY OLD) CYLONS?

4. What the fourth: ELLEN MOTHERFRAKKING TIGH.

5. Well, that was an episode from the Joss Whedon school of storytelling.

I am shellshocked. I actually have quite a few thoughts, but they are jumbled up in this massive tangle of "WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF WTF" that is going on.

I doubt this is where they are going with the Ellen and Saul thing... but I LOVE the idea that this whole terrible cycle was caused by the two of them just loving each other sooooooooo much they had to find a way to resurrect themselves so they could be TOGETHER FOREVER. Because, lol, Ellen and Saul's great love, lol.

So, wait, the mythology is that the thirteen tribes left Kobol, and the thirteenth found Earth and then... returned to Kobol to signpost the way? How long ago? Because if it was around 2000 years ago, hell yes that was Saul Motherfrakking Tigh.

Dee shooting herself just gutted me. Like, in retrospect, it makes sense, but at the time I did not see it coming at all. I wondered why we were getting all the lingering shots of her face and her personal belongings, and I was thinking maybe she'd be revealed as the final cylon, when suddenly BAM + BLOOD SPLATTER. And I was all, "...omg" at the screen.

And then Kara! Pulling up the helmet and we see that blonde hair! And then she got her dogtags and Leoben just split! Somebody (Naomi?) was saying she probably just grabbed the wrong Leoben, lol, got one that was less obsessed with her, but I think he was FREAKED OUT and soon he will tell us, through long poetic speeches about paths and flowing rivers, why.

AND THREE. I AM SO GLAD WE HAVE A THREE BACK STILL. I don't want her to stay behind because I want her to come along with the fleet and be kickass and awesome.

Also, NEEDS MORE BALTAR. I don't like Baltar (in fact I dislike him quite a bit), but I think he's needed to balance the show out a bit (just like we need the three). Plus I want to know what he thinks about this whole Earth business.

Ugh and there is SO MUCH MORE to comment on. But not today because I must sleeeep. I mean, I just watched BSG for 10+ hours straight! I'm tired!

I cannot wait to dl and rewatch.

Aaaaand okay apparently Razor counts as episodes 1 and 2 of season 4, which means this is episode 13, not 11. Whatever.

The Leoben thing was me, though it was pretty tongue-in-cheek... it just seemed SO out of character for Leoben, based on what we know. Which, since I'm pretty sure all Leobens want to jump Kara's bones (and who can blame them?) suggests to me that the Kara in the fleet not being the "real" (or at least, same) Kara means something to Leoben that it doesn't meant to us. Especially since to us it was all "wtf?!" and to Leoben it was all, "RUN! HIDE!"

My friend from school suggested that Ellen might not actually be the last Cylon, and that "we will be reborn again" actually means something different. Which, given that Tigh is also alive and definitely a Cylon, and that Ellen was a Cylon to begin with, I'm not sure I buy it. Although then he went on to suggest, as I think we did last night, that Ellen is alive again in Caprica. I kinda hope this isn't true, mostly because CAPRICA AND BALTAR MUST BE TOGETHER AND RAISE HYBRID BABIES FOR ETERNITY. Also, I still maintain that Tigh is projecting Ellen onto her (uh, psychologically and in that fancy Cylon way) and that Six is playing along to manipulate him, as she did on head!Baltar's recommendation. Like in I think season 3 when she was all, "You've lost someone close to you, haven't you? Did she know how much you loved her, or did you wait to tell her after she was gone?"

The Leoben thing freaks me out more the more I think of it. It's just so unsettling that he just ran without even saying anything to her. Eeeep. I so hope they don't leave finding out about the Kara thing until the end, because I WANT TO KNOW NOW.

Hmm. I think Ellen actually is the final one (unless there are MORE and just EVERYONE is a cylon). And yeah, agreed on the Caprica Six thing. I don't know that she was necessarily playing along to manipulate him, but it's possible that Baltar's rejection and her separation from the Cylon fleet frakked with her head a bit and made her just want to make babies with ANYONE, even Saul Tigh.

and lol forever at Tyrol with the fruit. idk why that's so funny, but it is.

ughhhh i so want all my questions answered nownownownowNOW.

But not everyone can be a Cylon, because Batatr's Cylon detector actually works as far as we know. Like, there really is a biological difference between Boomer and Baltar. Which totally goes into my personal idea that skinjobs are not androids so much as human clones with some sort of nanite thing in their blood or DNA or whatever, any technobabble will do really, and that that's what is networked to other Cylons, gives them super-strength and makes them disease-resistance and need less sleep, and what connects to computer systems when they plug themselves in or use that hand-water stuff on basetars. That would mean that anyone who's human could become a skinjob with some nanites injected in them, or whatever, and then they'd also be networked or whatever else. Uh, I kinda lost my train of thought here, but I think I was just trying to say that not everyone could be a Cylon from the beginning, but I think it would be cool if everyone could become a Cylon, and if Earth really started out as our Earth but then everyone became Cylons and then, uh, there were a bunch of nuclear bombs.

Also, are we sure that that's Earth? At the end of season 3 they were very careful not only to show what was clearly Earth, but to very carefully show the American continents so that dumb US viewers would catch on that it was Earth. So we know that Earth in the BSG universe is, at least, shaped like ours. Have we seen a shot of the planet they landed on in the mid-season finale? Because maybe they landed on the Cylon homeworld. Or something. Trying to tie that in to the chronology is giving me a headache.

I think the Tyrol with fruit part is funny because in that part Tyrol is basically a hipster, instead of a mechanic. Which may explain why he was so into Marxism in season 3!

Ah yes, that is EXACTLY why Tyrol + fruit is funny! Instead of a grunt, he looked like an intellectual! LOL FOREVER.

I've heard this theory that it WAS earth but somehow Kara like time-traveled in the nebula to 2000 years ago and her arrival set off whatever SUPERDEATH happened and um. I'm not sure IT'S JUST SOMETHING I HEARD OKAY.

But anyway, here (http://featuresblogs.chicagotribune.com/entertainment_tv/2009/01/final-fifth-cylon-ellen-tigh-battlestar-galactica-dualla-dee-.html) is an enlightening interview I read about that episode. I don't think it's spoilery for future episodes.

Also your typo in the first line spelling Baltar's name "Batatr" totally makes him seem Klingon or sounds like Barad-dur (?spelling?) from LotR or something. hahah.
