11th-May-2009 03:24 am - i love star trek so much, and you should too
God, just, I have a million other things I want to post about, but all I can think about is how HAPPY I am that everyone on my flist is loving Star Trek. It and Star Wars were my first fandoms (I discovered them in the same day, so I don't think either one can really come first) and they will always be my favorites, and so it fills me with joy to think that the fandom is getting this new infusion of enthusiasm. It might not last but that doesn't mean I won't enjoy it while I can!

And the best, best, BEST part about this is that it's renewing my enthusiasm for Star Trek. I feel like I could power through every series on DVD in just days. This is, of course, a mad delusion, because there are 29 seasons of Star Trek total, and at my fastest pace I can only watch about two seasons in a week, and my fastest pace has never applied to Star Trek, where my best is like half a season in a week.

I want to challenge myself to watch (rewatch, in most cases) every episode of Star Trek ever in the next year, but I feel this would be suicidally stupid because I also have things like work, family, a social life, school, eating, sleeping, etc to attend to.

(lol but this hasn't stopped me from borrowing TOS from a friend... and buying many of the DS9 novels that I haven't yet read. lollll.)

STAAAAR TREKKKKKK!!!!!

Unspoilery: It was good. You should see it. As in the original, McCoy and Spock were my favorites.

2nd-May-2009 06:02 pm - the weirdest dream ever. EVER.
So I just woke up from a nap (it's a rainy day... I always nap on rainy days!) where I had a dream wherein I had a threesome with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Vin Diesel. wtf, mind, wtf. Even better, The Rock was my boyfriend and we had a LAVENDER cat, and Nightcrawler from X-Men confiscated it temporarily because he was a tax inspector. He also kept teleporting into the threesome, making strange comments, and then leaving. Then Vin Diesel and I taught opera to schoolchildren. The opera was called La Pass It On and took place in the 18th century and everyone in the video we were watching of it wore frilly shit. I know I have a lot of weird dreams, but I feel like that one was ESPECIALLY weird.

2nd-May-2009 04:45 am - xmen movie, star trek costume
XMENNNNN! WOLVERIIIIIIINE! EMMA FROST!!!! GAMBIT!!!!!!!! RYAN REYNOLDS!!!!

I enjoyed the movie. The teenage boys behind me did not AT ALL though. When it was over, one went, "I am so disappointed I could cry." I was like, eff you man, did you see Wolverine shirtless???!?!? QUALITY STUFF THERE.

In other news, I have purchased material for my Star Trek costume. Engineering red, because the store didn't have Science/Medical blue and there is NO WAY I am wearing that gross yellow. The pattern looks fairly simple, but I got carried away and bought a pattern for a ~pretty dress~ also and IT looks dizzyingly complex.

In conclusion: WOLVERRIIIINE!!!!! !!!! !!

30th-Apr-2009 04:29 pm - silly mother.
My mother is such a bad enabler of my fannish habits. I was talking about my plans to see Star Trek at the midnight showing, and how I was going to wear my Star Trek communicator badge pin (Voyager style), and she goes, "What's the rest of your costume?" When I replied that I was not WEARING a costume, she responded with horror and immediately decided I would HAVE to find/make a red miniskirt outfit like Uhura's. SO. I will probably be doing that. lol.

28th-Apr-2009 03:40 am - resuming fannish posting. SEE LOOK AT THIS.
Shows I watch because I like the music in the opening credits:

30 Rock
Heroes
House

... probably more.

I watched Heroes for the first time in quite a while last night and I just sighed dreamily at the little WWOOOEEEOOOOEEOOO sound at the title screen. I love it sooooo much. And whenever I watch House I rewind to play the credits over.

Also outside there is this group of drunk men trying to train their dog. It is 3:45 in the morning. Who trains a dog outside at 3:45 am? DRUNK COLLEGE DUDES, THAT'S WHO. It's so annoying.

OH ALSO Chuck tonight rocked. SO HARD. But Bryce! MAN. He's my fave. So pretty. AND CHUCK. AND CASEY AND SARAH AND ELLIE AND DEVON AND MORGAN AND JEFFSTER. Ohhhhh man. I hope a) there IS a next season, and b) we still see the Buy More antics.

26th-Apr-2009 06:49 pm - accidental party
So I accidentally held a party last night. Even more accidentally, it lasted 10 hours (probably because I just don't have the heart to throw people out until they stop having fun). Not entirely accidentally, I got drunker than I have ever been in my entire life (hey, I was in my apartment, it's not like I had to deal with getting back here later... and also I did not get sick or have a hangover,* so yay!). I've been getting facebook messages from people all day today telling me that they drank too much last night, hope they didn't embarrass themselves, and OH YEAH their head feels like it's exploding/melting/doing both at once. I really can't believe no neighbors complained because we didn't close it down until 6 am. RIDICULOUS. I am not a party person at all so I'm not sure how this happened.

And then to make an awesome several days even more awesomer, I got a call from my favorite person ever and she had enough time to talk on the phone for an hour. lovvvvvvve.

*I have many friends who would contend this means I did not drink enough. I contend that it means that somehow I drank JUST ENOUGH and then just awesomely became hangover-proof.

25th-Apr-2009 11:49 am - photoshop yay
So I finally manage to do something not completely boring in photoshop, and it is this:

I dunno. Thoughts? Needs less? Needs more (like maybe something on the left at the join of those pictures there)? Huh, idk.

24th-Apr-2009 07:34 am - randomness
I tried looking up on facebook this guy I used to know whose name is Sam Dick. Thanks to facebook's smarmy "we KNOW which name you mean" feature, all the results I get are for people named Richard Samuel and Samuel Richards. THANKS, FACEBOOK. (I do, on the other hand, appreciate this feature when I search my friends for my brother by his nickname.)

Today I was pondering the fannish funk I've been in lately. I guess it coincides with a real life funk, which is annoying because it leaves me, idk, not having anything I want to do. And I want to be funky, not IN A FUNK. BUT ANYWAY, the point of this was that I have ONCE AGAIN lost that lotrips story with Orlando and Elijah as superheroes who AREN'T AWARE OF EACH OTHERS' HEROING and then they have sex on a car while wearing masks, and it had this EPIC SOUNDTRACK set to really, really, reeeeaaaaally angsty music that went along with it, including something like, possibly, "Electric Blue" by the Cranberries (if that is even a song) because Elijah has very blue eyes and his superpower was electricity. Which he used to sex up Orlando on a car. Look, it all makes sense in the fic, okay. Or perhaps not, because it wasn't exactly the best-written thing I've ever read. BUT THE POINT IS. I lost it again, and I feel bad going back to lotrips_finders like, "Hey, I've asked you guys this before, BUT..." And the stupid thing? I CANNOT GOOGLE SEARCH THE COMM FOR MY USERNAME FOR SOME REASON, which would obviously be the most expedient way to find it again.

So my resolution is MOAR FANNISH CONTENT. Like maybe write that essay on why Merlin/Arthur is OBVIOUSLY the new Harry/Draco.

And my other resolution is to watch less tv, because I think I have so many shows all my fannish energy is drained just keeping up.

Well, my photoshop apparently works now. YAY. It is so silly though because I finally was preparing to reinstall, but then I was loading some caps onto my computer and clicked on one and it opened in photoshop and instead of freezing/shutting down the computer, it ACTUALLY WORKED. So that was confusing, but also a relief. Now I have not made anything in photoshop in so long that I am somewhat clueless as to what to do. I made a Chuck icon because it was easy, but I'm afraid anything more difficult is eluding me at the moment. SIGH.

Also, do any of you guys happen to use one of those things online where you can upload your photos and have them printed in a little book and sent to you? I'm trying to do that for my grandparents but I don't know which service would be best and would appreciate hearing about your experiences.

1. Happy belated birthday, [livejournal.com profile] scoradh!!! ♥

2. My photoshop has not been working for a while and I don't know how to fix it. It is sooooooooo sadmaking. I guess I have to dig out the cds and reinstall. All photoshop-related things are on hold until then, unfortunately.

3. Conversation that just passed between me and my boyfriend, after I won an argument using mah logic skillz:

Jehnt: "See, my logic is impervious! And impeccable! And other words of that sort!"
Robot: "Words that begin with 'im-'?"
Jehnt: "'IMP-', even!"
Robot: "Like 'impish'?"
Jehnt: "You know, people HAVE called me impish on occasion."
Robot: "It's probably because of your small, evil eyes."

MY SMALL EVIL EYES. WHAT. I WAS LIKE, "I HOPE YOU MEAN THAT AS A COMPLIMENT, MISTER!" EL OH FRAKKING EL.

24th-Mar-2009 05:40 am
So I'm trying to catch up on tv shows that I've missed while I've been doing family things and friend/boyfriend things, and I've got to say that one of the most endearing/hilarious aspects of Supernatural is how OFTEN they reuse the same locations, sets, and props during filming. lol forever.

24th-Mar-2009 12:54 am - meep.
You know, I think I'm actually going to start vidding. I know, I know, I've been saying this for a long time. But I have this BSG vid I've been planning on paper for around two years, but I was having trouble figuring out how to make some things connect, and the final few episodes gave me the scenes needed to make it work. I'll have to get another hard drive to store all the scenes needed, and I'll have to figure out how to export the vid and make it pretty (something I have not yet succeeded at in test runs, though I wasn't putting much effort into it), so.

Am looking for a job but it is a confusing business. I don't see how anyone ever gets employed. What nonsense.

OH ALSO, the last episode of Dollhouse did not suck so badly as the previous ones. JOY. It was, however, about 10000000 times more creepy.

10th-Mar-2009 10:16 pm - Temeraire

So I know I'm on vacation and should be doing things, but today while the family watched baseball spring training, I locked myself up in the resort with Naomi Novik's Temeraire series. I haven't enjoyed a newish book series in quite some time due to my pickiness, but I am really excited by this one. I was always skeptical about trying it because it was described as "historical fantasy," which sounds boring, but it has ships and dragons and battles and is superfun! I recommend it quite highly.

7th-Mar-2009 10:21 am - bsg: islanded in a stream of stars
Sometimes I wonder if I should post about tv shows the same way I post movie reviews. Then I realize that for the shows I really like, my rating would always be A+++++++ and the comments would be *INCOHERENT FLAILING OMG*. Like BSG last night. *flail flail flail* GALACTICAAAAAAAAA.

Battlestar Galactica 4x18(ish?) - Islanded in a Stream of Stars )

ughhhh I am really just posting because I am having the usual vacation freakout. Am mostly packed but I don't want to go anywhere. :-/

7th-Mar-2009 09:38 am - movie review: watchmen
Watchmen - C+. They could have had an excellent action movie if they cut out most of the talking. Could have had an artsier flick if they stopped being so obvious. Also, needs more JDM.
